Our students’ needs, abilities, interests and good English proficiency has led to us designing a tailor-made English program for them to develop their English literacy and achieve a high level in English language skills and knowledge acquisition. Research has shown that children’s good command in reading and writing of one language (e.g. English) at an early stage will contribute much to their learning of other subjects in the same language. Therefore, in our curriculum we have taken reading and writing as fundamental to learning the English language and positive generic skills, e.g. critical thinking has been identified as an important skill across English teaching and learning.

The design of our school-based Chinese curriculum focuses on the non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students’ needs and difficulties in learning Chinese. The purpose is to assist them to learn Chinese and Chinese culture confidently, joyfully and effectively. Their Chinese language skills will therefore gradually reach the standard of the mainstream local schools.
